The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG-CRG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

It is integrated with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

The role

The Structural Genomics Group headed by Marc A. Marti-Renom and hosted at the CNAG and Gene Regulation, Stem Cells and Cancer programs of the CNAG-CRG is seeking a Post-doc to work in the field of single-cell spatial transcriptomics.

The candidate will actively participate in a funded project by La Caixa Health on personalized therapy against a rare childhood cancer (https://tinyurl.com/7fh8fu44), which is coordinated by Luciano Di Croce (CRG) and co-led by Jaume Mora (Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu) and our lab. Thus, the candidate will be part of a large inter-disciplinary team with the goal of characterizing a developmental pediatric cancer.

About the team

Our group at the Centro Nacional de Anáisis Genómico - Centre for Genomic Regulation (CNAG-CRG) develops and uses experimental and computational approaches for characterizing the molecular regulation of cells by studying the structure of macromolecules and their complexes. In particular, we focus on regulatory molecules such as RNA and chromatin.

Our group is very interdisciplinary (the team has been composed by biologists, biochemists, physicists, architects, mathematicians, statisticians, pharmacists, molecular biologists, and geneticists, among others), young (http://marciuslab.org/www/people/?lab_pics), international and dynamic. Whom would we like to hire?

Professional experience

Must Have

• You have experience in single-cell transcriptomics

• You have experience in computational methods for analyzing single-cell spatial transcriptomics datasets

• You have a background in computational methods for single-cell transcriptomics

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

• You have a background in spatial transcriptomics

• You have experience in developing Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning methods for spatial transcriptomics

Education and training

• You hold a Phd in molecular biology, genetics, physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computer science or related fields

Languages

• You are fluent in English

Technical skills

• You have Experience in coding Python (preferably) and/or R is a prerequisite

Competences

• You have highly developed organization skills

• You have the ability to work in a team

• You are excellence-driven

The Offer – Working Conditions

Contract duration: 2 years with possibility of extension.

Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
